"Changemakers" TV Series: Breaking News

One month ago, we asked all you pioneers to help Deborah with ideas for her major TV series on Discovery International that looks at the crisis we face in global warming.

Now she got back to you with a big thank you for all your incredible suggestions:

"I just want to thank you all for inputting your ideas, knowledge and projects on this link. It's been great reading them all, and exciting to see the range of projects around the world.[...] Thank you - you are the Changemakers!"

And this is a short summery of your suggestions so far:

Sam from Taiwan works on street and highway lights with hybrid power generation systems using wind and sun as nature’s free resources! A great idea - that is why Patrick wants to support Sam in the Singapore region! That is pioneering spirit, keep us updated, guys!

From Asia to Africa, Zambia to be more precisely: That is where our Pioneer Caro founded a "Soccer clinic" that brings underprivileged kids together for environmental education by playing soccer! You scored a hattrick, Caro!

Scott wrote us about his educational program called GO GREEN! A.C.E.R. Active Community Energy Reduction. In cooperation University of California Northridge and the two local community colleges the program wants to educate students on how to work with business owners to reduce their energy consumption. It is a great idea worth spreading, keep going scott!

Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group or short: AIDG is the non-profit project of Cat Laine who is currently working in Guatemala and Haiti to get under-served communities renewable energy, sanitation and clean water. Focussing on locales where people earn less that $4/day AIDGs work with local engineering talent in developing countries to start small businesses that can provide sustainable solutions for their communities.

Not too far away from Haiti our filmmaker Ingo explored another amazing project. Filming in Havana, he met Luis Berriz, the president of Cuba Solar, the Cuban society for renewable energy and environmental protection. This organisation does amazing things to establish green technology in Fidel's Cuba. We tell you more about it in Ingo's video, coming up soon at Club of Pioneers.

And last but not least there is Ulla Gahn with an idea which is as brilliant as it is simple: Through her “switch to green energy parties” (usually held at private homes), she teaches others how to swop over to environmentally friendly energy providers. Check out our CoP blog about her!

Thanks a lot for all your support... but our search goes on! Let's help Deborah to produce a great documentary that spreads the pioneering spirit across the globe! So if you want to get your sustainable project featured on TV or just want us to know about a cool project you have heard of don't hesitate and enter our Changemakers Thread!

And by the way: Deborah is already working on another series about animal conservation, highlighting specific species under immediate threat. Learn more about the documentary called "Extinction sucks!" on the Myspace site!
