Video: Green Mobility - voices of the German social party (SPD)

At the end of October, the German Social
Democratic Party (SPD)
, the junior partner in
Chancellor Angela Merkel's coalition government, held
its national party congress in Hamburg. Global environmental topics certainly played an important role during the conference. Club of Pioneers collected opinions on different topics - here's our first of three videos concerning Germany's activities for greener mobility worldwide!

Hi Joerg, you have forgotten that the social democracts have made
some interesting decisions f.e. the speed limit of 130 of german
motorways , something that is normal in almost all european
countries and also in USA. The BMU has said that 30% of the
emissions can so saved. Why not making it to a german law.

Hi Verena, you are right, the debate on the speed limit is
very interesting – because many SPD politicians aren’t happy
about questions concerning this topic, to put it mildly. After
the party convention, Environment Minister Sigmar Gabriel
(SPD!!!) has rejected the plan - he argues that the focus on a
speed limit distracts from measures that would be more effective
in capping greenhouse gas emissions such as pressing the auto
industry to roll out more fuel-efficient models. And Wolfgang
Tiefensee, SPD-Minister for Transport, pointed out that 98% of
German roads already have speed limits. The chances for a
speed limit law seem to be remote: Chancellor Merkel already said
“Nein!” and even the European Union recently dismissed Germany's
plan for cutting CO2 emissions as extremely inadequate. I don’t
know who to believe: Some experts say, an overall Autobahn limit
of 100km/h (62mph) would reduce CO2 emissions by only 0.6%. But –
it’s always the question how carmakers influence the debate –
what do you think?

first at all the revolution comes out from the base and it is
good to see that also the social democrats have such party
conventions, it is not only important what a minister says is
also important what the delegates say. But now about the topic:
2,5 Millions less CO2 without any costs. It sounds good; and let
me say something about the argument saling german cars in the
foreign countries. why must a car becomes as fast if the owner of
it can´t drive it in his country. The European Union already said
that germany must act. And the german government doesn´t do
enough!! Why must we have something that no country in the world
has without " faroer-Inseln". But the have no railways at all!!!
